Valentines day was just yesterday, a day full of love for some and sadness for others. A holiday that is seemingly centered around couples can be so much more than that. I believe valentines day should open its door to platonic relationships, to family, to loving yourself. It really gets me down to see gals getting down on themselves just because they dont have a man. Life is about loving and loving and loving. To everyone not just your significant other. Think about treating yourself on valentines day next year, even if you're dating someone. But I suggest not waiting for one day a year to celebrate people you love and yourself. You can do it everyday just by doing little things like drinking tea and taking baths and sleeping a little bit more.

SELF LOVE
(My bestfriend Sophie and I)
I never really had a problem with making friends till high school. I was new in a world of people who were all so different to me. I had never been in an environment where it was hard for me to make friends but suddenly I had none. It took me over a year to fully adjust. In a school full of girls who've already found their group and stuck to it, it's hard to break in. The best thing I took out of this experience was learning to be okay with being alone. I think one of the most important "revelations" to have is to be comfortable and confident with yourself. Freshman year was the most uncomfortable year for me. I've heard so many people tell me their freshman year was bad but, mine, way worse. The first half of freshmen year I tried desperately to fit in. Deleting my art instagram and trading my own style for a pair of bean boots/patterned sweaters. It was a mess. I faked my personality to try to fit in which is such an awful feeling. LIKE IT FEELS SO MUCH BETTER TO JUST BE YOU!!!! Its hard to push these revelations on yourself but it really can take people awhile to grow out of the awkward feeling of adolescence. I'm now at junior year and I can wear whatever I want/do whatever I want and not care what people think.
Its so peaceful to be able to walk around, go to restaurants, sketch in parks, run errands etc without caring that i'm alone and what it means. Be comfortable with yourself!! Self care is the MOSSSST important ideal to have. This is the year of being comfortable in your skin, learning to expand ourselves, and loving all that we can.
In a post where I wanted to be talking about friends it just seems like i've been talking about being alone. Friends are good to have. People who you really connect with are important. The closest people in my heart live the farthest from me. You don't need to call people your bestfriend if they aren't connecting with you on the level that you want. It's honestly better to be on your own and let other peoples energies come to you instead of forcing a friendship that means little. I've dealt with many on again off again friendships, and just like a light switch thats flicked on and off repeatedly, it will burn out. Wait for people who will reach into the sky and bring light to you. In a world full of millions theres always a few that will reach into your heart and help you hold it.

FRIENDSHIP
Its five days into the new year and I'm already feeling nostalgic. But along with that comes an overpowering sense of excitement. 2015 was a year of perspective changing experiences for me. I got to travel around the world and meet some of my best friends for the first time (and the second/third/fourth). I learned a lot about myself as I became comfortable alone and maybe even empowered by it. 2015 was the year that I focused on improving myself. 2016 is time for me to share my perspective outwards. Attached is a mini photo diary and farewell to 2015.
